Cole had his checkup today and the staples removed from the incision. He was not thrilled about the t shirts so it is nice he can go au naturel when we are home to watch him. He even has a lot of fuzz coming back. He has mastered his ramp for the car and was pretty excited to get out of the house today. Everyone at the vet’s office was happy to see him and he got a lot of pets and love. He was saying hi to people and even pulled on the tech who took him to the back. They took a video of him walking to show other patients. They are also planning a supply list we helped them make after reading Tripawds. They are putting it up with his name and picture to help future patients prepare. He had his blood panel done for chemo but we don’t have the results yet so I’m not sure when the next round will be. Everyone is really happy with his progress including us. He doesn’t feel sick to us anymore. He is still slowly building up his stamina but he doesn’t feel sick. I know there will be more ups and downs in this but I love that he is himself again.
He started doing one of his habits that we thought was gone for good. Our living room window has an 18 inch deep sill so it is sort of like a window seat. When one of us comes home, he stands up with his front legs on the window and wiggles and screams. We always crack up at the sight of his silhouette in the window when we come in the driveway. He went from lifting his head to sitting up in bed then to walking to the window. Yesterday for the first time, he jumped right up like it was nothing. I am worried about him hurting himself coming back down but he did that very gently. I think we will block the window for now just to be safe though. I watched through the web camera we set up to keep an eye on them while we are at work to see if he would do it again when Mike was coming home and got this screenshot. Also pictured is our resident tyrant, Rufus the cat.
Here is one of Ella and him from I think last year. I had an appointment after work so I was later than usual. Mike took this and said they waited for me like that for about 30 minutes.
The only other update is we went to visit our friends who live around the corner Sunday evening. We drove him in the car since it is too far for him for now. He got to see his and Ella’s best friend Lucy who is also a mastiff for the first time since before the surgery. She was so sweet and careful with him. This is from about 3 or 4 years ago but it is my favorite picture of the three of them.
Love love love all the pictures of that happy boy getting his sparkle back. Looks like Ella is happy to get her sidekick back too. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I just LOVE ALL the pictures!! I think it is sooo cute how they wait for you in the window sill. It is always refreshing to see them do things you once thought they would not do again. The little things like jumping on the bed in the morning to give me kisses just made me SMILE and APPRECIATE all the moments I have with my Miss Mollie Moo. So proud to hear the staples have been removed and Cole is recovering well!! For us the first few weeks were the difficult part. But after that, they become stronger and stronger. I am wishing for speedy recovery! Soon Cole will be romping around with all his friends and siblings.
XOXO~ Miss Mollie Moo and Family
YAAAAAAAAAY FOR COLE!!!! This is such a wonderful update on so many levels! And DELIGHTFUL pictures as an extra bonus! LOVING IT!!
I coukd feel your joy, and shared your joy, at seeing Cole resume his normal “Welcome Home Mom and Dad” position 🙂 🙂 And I assure you, being able to do that had healing powers in many ways for Cole too! I know Ella enjoyed the routine with her buddy too!
As big as Cole is, I doubt stepping down off the window sill is harmful at all. It’s barely off the ground for him! You could maybe put down a cushion, or a “step” of some sort if you think that is needed. For him to be able to do this very special routine just melts my heart!! Such a HUGE victory!!!
I know being able to go see his friend was healing too..for everybody!
His incision really looks good btw.
Thanks so much for the upate and, as always, these glorious pictures of these two! That’s a whole lot of tummy to be rubbed!!
Sending lots of love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Way to go Cole! That is awesome!!!
I used to be worried about Buddy too, doing thing that could get him hurt but they figure it out. They really do. That is awesome that he’s doing his normal stuff. That’s what it’s all about!!
Thanks for the update, always love hearing GREAT news and healing stories about our tripawd family!
Xoxoxo

SUHWEEEEEEET! Oh man this is pawgress. And what an honor for your vets to put together that supply list. Would it be possible for us to see it? We would love to give them appropriate kudos from the Tripawds Nation. Also, if they are putting together an info pack, they really do need our brochures. Drop us a line here and we will happily send them a stack:

Good times ahead for Cole and the pack, you guys are ROCKIN!!!!
Sorry this reply is so long after the fact, I haven’t logged in for a bit! Cole’s surgeon is the one who recommended this site to us so I know she is telling everyone about it and our oncologist made sure we knew about Tripawds too. I’m not sure if they have the brochures because some of this info was passed to us over the phone but I’ll pass on the link 🙂
